DIRECTIONS TO ALABAMA WAGON TRAIN CAMPSITES


BACK  HOME          CAMP TO CAMP DIRECTIONS          **PRINTER FRIENDLY VERSION**

 We hope that as many of you as possible can leave with us from Boaz, Alabama on opening day.  The first Camp is at the Sand Mountain Saddle Club and here’s how to find it:

 

THE BEGINNING CAMP – SAND MOUNTAIN SADDLE CLUB

You will find Boaz on your map 19 miles North of Gadsden, Alabama on Highway 431.  From Birmingham and South or from Chattanooga and North, your key Highway is I-59.  At Gadsden take the Highway 431 exit to Boaz.  As you enter Boaz, turn right at the red light at the Chevrolet dealership, this will be McVille Road.  Look for our Wagon Train signs and follow them for about one mile until you come to the club.  For those of you using I-65, you can exit at Cullman or Decatur and follow your map to Boaz.  If you are joining us in Boaz, make sure you arrive by the afternoon of Monday, March 1st for the Welcome Party.

 

TUESDAY NIGHT - GADSDEN / RAINBOW CITY

Coming South from Huntsville on Highway 431, take Highway 77 South.  Go 3.3 miles to Hwy. 11 South.  Turn right and go .7 miles.  Turn left of Pleasant Valley Road.  Go 3.1 miles and the Camp is on the left.  If your using I-59, take exit 181.  Follow 77 South 1/4 mile.  At red light turn right on Airport Road.  Go 2.3 miles.  Turn right and go 2.7 miles.  Turn right and go .6 mile.  Camp is on the right.  Watch for AWT signs.

 

WEDNESDAY NIGHT – BASWELL FARM

From Gadsden take Highway 431 towards Anniston.  At the red light at Alexandria, turn right on to Highway 144 and follow to County Road 73 and turn left.  Go about 2 miles and camp is on right.  From Rainbow City take Highway 77 toward Ohatchee.   At red light in Ohatchee,  turn left on Highway 144 and go 3.1 miles.  Turn right on County Road 73 and go 2 miles and camp is on the right.

 

THURSDAY NIGHT – TALLADEGA SPEEDWAY

If you are coming from Huntsville, Boaz, Gadsden, etc. take Highway 77 South to Raceway Blvd – it is well marked.  Make your turn up the Boulevard and you will be in camp in five minutes.  If you are arriving from the direction of either Birmingham or Atlanta exit off I-20 onto Highway 77 and it is a short drive to camp.  The racetrack is well marked from I-20.

 

FRIDAY NIGHT – DON RAY FARM

This is the largest arrival night.  Your key highways are I-20 and Highway 77.  From Birmingham or Atlanta you will be exiting off I-20 onto Highway 77S.  Follow this 8.8 miles and turn right onto Hwy 275S / 21S . Follow 21S 10.6 miles to Hwy 211.  Turn left.  Go 1.7 miles to a dead end and turn left.  Go .8 miles on dirt road.  Cross RR tracks and turn right.  Go 1.5 miles to camp.  Camp will be on the right before a sharp curve.  Follow driveway into camp.  If coming from 280, take 21N to Hwy 209 and turn right at the sod farm sign.  Follow this road until you cross the RR tracks, then follow the directions.  Watch for AWT signs.

 

 

SATURDAY NIGHT– ROZELLE FARM

From Sylacauga take Highway 148 about 12 miles to Highway 7.  Turn right go ½ mile and the camp will be on your left.  Going to Goodwater on Highway 9, take Highway 7 in Goodwater. Camp is to the right ½ mile before you get to Highway 148. Look for camp signs.

 

SUNDAY NIGHT – PATTERSON FARM

If you are coming from the Montgomery area to join us, take Highway 9 out of Wetumpka, through Seman and Nixburg to Highway 40.  Turn left onto Highway 40.  Go 3.3 miles and camp is on the left.

 

MONDAY NIGHT – C.W. WRIGHT FAMILY FARM

This camp is also off of Highway 9 at Nixburg.  We have camped here for several years and this is one of our favorite spots.  From Wetumpka take Highway 9 through Seman to Nixburg turn left onto Highway 4.  Go one mile and the camp will be on your right.  From Goodwater take Highway 9 to Nixburg turn right onto Highway 4.

 

TUESDAY NIGHT / WED NIGHT – IRON HORSE RANCH, NEAR WETUMPKA, AL

From Montgomery take Highway 231 to Wetumpka up to Earl’s Spa.  You’ll see Wagon Train signs to Iron Horse Ranch.  From points North go South on 231 you’ll see Wagon Train signs at Earl’s Spa follow to camp.

 

THURSDAY NIGHT –Garrett Coliseum

Our final camp, now it’s time to enjoy the rodeo, stock show and beautiful city of Montgomery.  A final note – if you are staying with us for a day or two make sure you call the Day’s Inn for reservations.

 

FRIDAY MORNING – GARRETT COLISEUM

Our final get-together! The awards party starts at 10:00 am – don’t miss it! Lunch provided.

 

A FINAL NOTE:   ALL CAMPS WILL HAVE WAGON TRAIN SIGNS POSTED TO HELP YOU ALONG THE WAY!
